A critical incident as a safeguarding allegation or concern relating to the conduct of one of your employees or volunteers, that indicates that they may have harmed a child or vulnerable person, placed a child or vulnerable person at risk of harm, or may be unsuitable to work with children or vulnerable people.
The concern might relate to the abuse of a child, colleague or adult at risk, sexual harassment, domestic abuse or whistleblowing.
Organisations registered with the Alert Programme notify us through an online reporting system. We will respond within 1 hour to support the immediate response. This includes a risk assessment, any immediate safeguarding measures such as a referral to a statutory agency or suspension of any relevant party, and a plan of action until a further meeting, which would usually occur the next working day.
Following our immediate response, we will work with you to create an organisational response and maintain a dynamic risk assessment. We can provide advice on support to victims and/or survivors, the expectation of statutory agencies, and support your compliance with regulatory and funder requirements. We will then be available for further support as the incident is managed agreeing with you what support you require.
