About the Alert Programme

We recognise the challenge faced by organisations when confronted with a safeguarding concern, particularly when they are complex or relate to high profile individuals. Our team have helped organisations meet the needs of children and vulnerable people while under intense public, political, and regulatory scrutiny. We understand the challenges faced by organisations in trying to get safeguarding right and the pressures felt during the urgency of a critical incident.

The Alert Programme provides your organisation critical incident support, including the strategic and tactical advice you need to keep people safe. Our team will work with you to develop a response strategy, addressing immediate and longer term safeguarding risks, managing reputational risks, and assisting with regulatory/statutory engagement.

Our support ensures that you can access one of our team out of office hours, at short notice to receive initial advice and a risk assessment. If required, we will assist you in making a referral onto a statutory agency as well as attend an internal crisis management group and external statutory meetings with police and local authorities if needed.

Our network and experience enables us to conduct risk assessments in high risk jurisdictions where there maybe concerns as to the efficacy or safety of reports to law enforcement or a referral to a statutory service.

In addition to our critical incident support, we can provide related services such as conducting and supervising investigations, the forensic examination of digital devices, attendance at disciplinary hearings, and polygraph examinations, all at discounted rates.

We have decades of experience gained in some of the most high profile and well known organisations and charities. We have managed the response to complex incidents and investigations globally, including in high-risk environments such has humanitarian emergencies. We have worked in every jurisdiction in the UK and all of our team are specialists in their fields. We are ready to support you.

how does the programme work?

A critical incident as a safeguarding allegation or concern relating to the conduct of one of your employees or volunteers, that indicates that they may have harmed a child or vulnerable person, placed a child or vulnerable person at risk of harm, or may be unsuitable to work with children or vulnerable people.

The concern might relate to the abuse of a child, colleague or adult at risk, sexual harassment, domestic abuse or whistleblowing.

Organisations registered with the Alert Programme notify us through an online reporting system. We will respond within 1 hour to support the immediate response. This includes a risk assessment, any immediate safeguarding measures such as a referral to a statutory agency or suspension of any relevant party, and a plan of action until a further meeting, which would usually occur the next working day.

Following our immediate response, we will work with you to create an organisational response and maintain a dynamic risk assessment.  We can provide advice on support to victims and/or survivors, the expectation of statutory agencies, and support your compliance with regulatory and funder requirements.  We will then be available for further support as the incident is managed agreeing with you what support you require.

Typically, we would engage with a senior executive, trustee or designated safeguarding lead to devise an appropriate response.

We will discuss your needs and your organisation's safeguarding profile with you before you join the Alert Programme, but here is no limit to the number of incidents that you can refer during your membership of the programme.

We offer a simple process for joining the programme, ensuring that it suits your needs and budget. The first step is to complete the Organisation Safeguarding Profile form, after which a member of our team will contact you to discuss the programme.

The cost of participating in the Alert Programme can vary as a result of safeguarding profile of your organisation. The overwhelming majority of organisations will find their membership of the programme to cost no more than £1,000 per month or an annual fee of £10,000.

When organisations are dealing with a live incident or are aware of the potential for a specific incident, we will provide immediate access to the Alert programme and the support it provides. Organisations in this position must pay their fee annually, rather than in monthly instalments.

We are happy to discuss your safeguarding needs and can provide support invoiced on a case by case basis. Please contact us here
